Caught between Dreams and Responsibilities

"When you get caught between your dreams and responsibilities, what's the best thing you can do?" - That's the first question I had in mind early this morning. Despite of having a good life, we still wonder why something doesn't feel right.

John Mark Calderon
We live our lives one day at a time hoping to see the silver lining at the end of everything. But sometimes, circumstances take over our choices and wander off the things we truly want. Honestly, if it’s all up to me I could have been more than what I am now. But life teaches us to wait otherwise patience wouldn’t become a virtue.

It’s easy for people to say follow your heart and chase you dreams but that’s only if you have the means to do so. Apparently for that, I do not only mean financially but all aspect in life. It is difficult when you have situations or people surround you that you put into consideration in making decisions. It is true that in reality, skills are not enough because sometimes you would also need a little luck. As they say, if it’s not for you then it’s not meant to be. But on a different note, I believe that bigger things come to those who wait because I know we can all have a happy story if we hope for it.

As I look back on my life, I realize that every time I thought I was being rejected from something good, I was actually being re-directed to something better.” – Dr. Steve Maraboli

It is probably less than 10% of the population who would say they are contented with what they currently have. Maybe because they have gone a life changing experience that made them realized to appreciate even the small things. But human by nature will not be contented and that’s just the way it is. And when people start comparing, they tend to see the success of others as their personal failures. Yeah, it sucks and sometimes I am guilty of that. But I always remind myself that I have my own story and I have a life worth sharing too. Hence, there are no failures in life but only delayed success.

Yes, it could be hopeless and disappointing at times when things are not happening as scheduled on your timeline. I, myself do complain a lot because of it and I kinda hate that side of me. But those grumbles made me more realize what I want and I don’t want in my life. It reinforces my will to achieve all the plans I have set in mind no matter what. Above all, it envisions the kind of lifestyle I feel like I deserve.

But honestly, if only there are no life responsibilities, I wonder what or who could I have been now. Well, I’d probably be a frequent traveler and an imaginative photographer. Or perhaps, I’d be a recording artist or a travel TV show host. Hahaha I don’t know but one thing is for sure – I will embrace all the changes that will come in my life and be happy for what or who I will become.

How about you?
