Rising
about 100 meters above the ground, the Batu Caves in Kuala Lumpur is absolutely
one of the most popular Hindu Shrines in the world. The name “Batu” is taken
from the Sungai Batu which is a river flowing past the limestone hill. The shrine
is dedicated to their Lord Murugan (Subramaniyan), a Hindu god of war. You’ll
see Murugan’s grand golden statue before you climb into the 272 stair steps to
the entrance of the cave.
